A Galicia Like No Other

The climb from the city of Vigo was challenging. Perspiring in the heavy humidity, we counted ourselves lucky for both the cloud cover and cooler temps. Soon we were on level ground passing through quiet neighborhoods on the city outskirts and forests with expansive views below to the harbor, mussel farms and iconic Rande Bridge. En route to Redondela, we encountered more pilgrims than in previous days, an event which boosted our spirits and validated the camaraderie that can only be found on the Camino. One thing which we can depend on during our journey is our faithful sponsor, Follow the Camino (FTC). Not only is our luggage there to greet us at every destination but the hostel accommodations have been more than adequate. Today, FTC surprised us with lodging at the Antolín Hotel, a hotel located on Cesantes Beach, facing San Simon Island, and offering a panoramic view of the Ría de Vigo. The treat was in watching the kite surfers navigate the wind and waves until sunset. Back on the Camino tomorrow morning to Pontevedra.
